An exclusive non-profit wine collective is coming to Texas for the first time, and Houston is its chosen destination.

logo-2In Pursuit of Balance, or IPOB, is a wine collective that brings together the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay winemakers from California, celebrating a new movement in wine-making away from the intense high-alcohol fruit “bomb” to a more traditional, refined wine that is balanced and reflects its terroir. According to IPOB “wine is in balance when its diverse components – fruit, acidity, structure and alcohol – coexist in a manner such that should any one aspect overwhelm or be diminished, then the fundamental nature of the wine would be changed.”

Created by sommelier and James Beard Award-winner Rajat Parr of Domaine de la Côte and Sandhi Wines and Jasmine Hirsch of Hirsch Vineyards (photo above), IPOB will present 31 exceptional member winemakers who will be sharing their philosophy and wines on Monday, March 30, at The Parador (2021 Binz) from 6 to 9 pm.

You’ll get a chance to meet the vanguards of IPOB, including Jim Clendenen (Au Bon Climat), Ross Cobb (Cobb Wines), Rajat Parr and Sashi Moorman (Sandhi, Domaine de la Côte), Ehren Jordan (Failla Wines), Jasmine Hirsch and Ross Cobb (Hirsch Vineyards), Steve Matthiasson (Matthiasson Wines), Pax Mahle (Wind Gap Wines) and others. Light bites to complement the tastings will be provided by Backstreet Cafe, FT33, Mark’s, Pappas, Pass & Provisions, Pax Americana, Sonoma Wine Bar and Underbelly.

“We are incredibly excited to share our message and our members’ wines with the Texas wine community. We have a great collection of the old guard Pinot wineries, and the hottest up-and-coming producers,” says Hirsch.
