Speaking of breakfast (weren’t we?), Goode Co. Taqueria (4902 Kirby) will begin serving breakfast seven days a week, as of Monday, May 2. You can get your huevos 6:30 to 11 am Monday through Friday and 7:30 am to 12:30 pm on the weekend. Pass the salsa!
Chef Michael Kramer is leaving The Tasting Room. We can’t say we’re surprised. Kramer is a fine-dining chef, and the job at TTR is more a corporate chef position. Kramer reportedly wants to stay in Houston and is looking for a new venue … Restaurateur John McAleer emailed us to say, “We will be closing the original Buffalo Grille (3116 Bissonnet) this Tuesday, April 26 at 2 pm and re-opening a few days later at 4080 Bissonnet. I would say 27 years was a pretty good run. We are looking forward to the new spot.” … We’re sorry to report that Sabine River Cafe at 10001 Westheimer closed, as of this past Tuesday (April 19). Mingalone Italian Bar & Grill in downtown’s Bayou Place (across from the Wortham) also recently closed … There’s a puzzling message on the website of Patisserie Thierry Andre Tellier Cafe Pastry Shop, better known simply as Andre’s: “After serving River Oaks for over 30 years, Andre’s has moved. We have had to move at very short notice and were unable to let our customers know and for this we do apologize. We are currently moving our bakery to a new location. Our Uptown Park location will remain open.” Andre’s location in the Village has closed … Pizzeria Alto (2800 Kirby), which is chef Robert Del Grande’s new pizza joint, opened very softly this past Wednesday. (Did you ever imagine you’d see “Robert Del Grande” and “pizza joint” in the same sentence?) It’s upstairs, over Ava. Plans are for dinner-only service, except Sunday when they will be open in the afternoon … Just a reminder that the Grand Wine & Food Affair kicks off next Wednesday, April 26, and runs through Sunday, May 1. More than 100 wineries and chefs will showcase their talents at winemaker lunches, vintner dinners, wine seminars, The Grand Tasting, the Sienna Sip & Stroll and the around the world Bistro Brunch. Be sure to read SideDish next Tuesday: We’ll be giving away two VIP passes for the festival.
