Today’s Table Talk: March 15, 2011

Rumor has it: Maeve Pesquera — one of the managing partner of Fleming’s in River Oaks — has set up a new household in California as she was promoted to national wine buyer for Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar. Prior to her nearly 10 years at the elegant West Alabama restaurant, Maeve honed her hospitality skills while working for Tony Vallone. We wish you the best, Maeve!

We at My Table magazine extend our condolences to the family and many friends of Virginia Elverson, a founding chairman of the Houston Culinary Guild and one of the city’s most influential culinarians. Elverson was well known as a restaurant consultant, cooking teacher and cookbook author — among her several books was Gulf Coast Cooking (1991). She died after a short illness last Friday (March 11).
