Seeking a little culture in your life? Begging for Bacchus-like behavior? While many events hosted later in the year have been rescheduled due to Harvey, these five festivals are set for late September through Thanksgiving weekend.

Oktoberfest September 30, 2017 $25 – $125

By the looks of it (marketing materials show a strong emphasis on the under 35 crowd in lederhosen), things could get weird but in a delicious, satisfying way: with vendors like King’s Bier Haus, Steel City Pops and a tame but friendly list of beers it seems that prepurchasing a VIP ticket ($100) is a good value if you plan on going hard. Along with live music, you could be witness to stein heist competitions, barrel rolls and “the legendary brat toss” which is described as “just like your old-fashioned egg toss except with Bratwurst!” Shout out to Houston originals like Karbach and Saint Arnold which are being poured. Believe it or not, kids under 15 are free.

Texas Renaissance Festival September 30 – November 26, 2017 $10 – $496

It’s no secret that the folks at My Table are close friends with His Grace. We’re fans of the Highland Fling weekend (November 18 – 19) and the final weekend of the festivities, Celtic Christmas (November 24 – 26) because everyone has a good time when kilts are involved, and the food and drink offerings at Ren Fest go far beyond their famous turkey legs and mead. Original Greek Festival October 5 – 8, 2017 Free (children) to $5

Every October for 51 years the Greek Festival has ruled Montrose. While the festival is a time to celebrate traditional Greek dance, food and wine (lots of wine) – parking can be a nightmare. Via the website, we found out that you can get a credit through Yellow Cab by downloading their app, ZTrip. That way you won’t have to worry about surge pricing from other apps, driving or parking. Download the app here and use keyword GREEK.

Festa Italiana October 12 – 15, 2017 $0 – $8
The University of St. Thomas, 3800 Montrose
Did someone say grape stomping competition? You’ll also find pasta-eating contests, classic cars, artisans, cinematography and Italian wine and beer tastings.

Egyptian Fest October 28, 2017 $0 – $10
Discovery Green
Camels. Belly dancing. Kufteh. The debut of Pharaoh’s Brew, the first Egyptian beef from 8th Wonder. There will be a lot to take in at the Egyptian festival including live music from Palestinian singer Jabour Bakla. According to the website, the dromedary camel breeds brought in for the festival are friendly and rare.

We have not heard back from organizers at the Puerto Rican and Cuban festival if their event is to stay on schedule for November 12, 2017
