October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, bringing with it special offerings by many Houston-area restaurants benefitting breast cancer charities. Here are a few of our favorites:
Ouisie’s Table (3939 San Felipe) and sister-restaurant The Bird & The Bear (2810 Westheimer) are offering a fun and tasty stack of “Pink Pancakes” daily throughout the month and also a “Cocktail for the Cure,” a Prosecco/Chambord creation, benefitting Reconstruct A Survivor.
Julia’s Bistro (3722 Main) is offering a three-course prix-fixe dinner for $35 throughout the month of October, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Speaking of cocktails, Katsuya (2800 Kirby) is donating $1 to the Pink Ribbons Project for every “Berry Evocative” sold in October. The drink features Bacardi Oakheart Rum, muddled strawberries and fresh-squeezed lime juice topped with a splash of citrus soda.
At chef Jonathan Jones’ new haunt, Monarch at Hotel Zaza (5701 Main), they’re offering “The Pink Paloma,” made with silver tequila, pink grapefruit juice and soda, as well as $5 Mumm’s Napa Valley Rose to benefit Susan G. Komen For The Cure. Sparkly pink chandeliers will decorate the hotel, and the staff will sport pink shoes, ties and ribbons throughout October.
Reserve 101 (1201 Caroline) has created a pink drink called “Tainted Love” to spark breast cancer awareness. It’s made with Aperol and pomegranate juice and topped with Sophia sparkling wine.
III Forks Prime Steakhouse (1201 Fannin) has created the “Strawberry-Mint Moji-Tini” to create awareness. It features muddled strawberries, limes, mint leaves, simple syrup, Sailor Jerry Rum and a splash of Sprite.
How about something sweet? Midtown dessert shop Dolce Delights Patisserie (3201 Louisiana) will donate $2 from every individual Pomegranate Honey Crème Brûlée Cake sold to support the Holly Rose Ribbon Foundation.
On Sunday, October 14, Sprinkles (4010 Westheimer) will offer an especially sweet deal – buy one pink ribbon cupcake and receive on free – in honor of the Texans vs. Packers “Pink Ribbons”-themed game.
