Last Monday Double Trouble Caffeine & Cocktails and freelance cocktail bartender Chris Frankel debuted Drink with the Chefs, a series of fun events for the month of September. Over the past few months, Monday nights at Double Trouble have quietly generated a loyal restaurant industry and foodie following due to their ongoing guest bartender series.

Co-owner Robin Berwick has been hosting a rotating cast of some of Houston’s top cocktail bartenders, including Justin Burrow, Alex Gregg and Aaron Lara, letting them work behind the bar Monday nights and showcase their own personal drink menus.

Building on that theme, Frankel recruited five of Houston’s most talented chefs and has teamed up with them each Monday throughout September to prepare beverages for the crowd all night.

Frankel and the chef-bartender(s) start shaking up drinks at 9 pm and keep serving until the bar closes at 2 am. The all-star cast of chefs began last week with Grant Gordon of Tony’s. Here’s the schedule for the rest of the month:

~Monday, Sept. 10 Justin Basye (Pappas Restaurants and the Les Sauvages dinners)

~Monday, Sept. 17 Erin Smith (Plonk! Beer & Wine Bistro)

~Monday, Sept. 24 Brandi Key (Coppa Ristorante Italiano) and Amanda McGraw (Brasserie 19)
