Bebidas resembles a desert oasis with its menu of wholesome bites and freshly pressed juices in a laidback pastel pink atmosphere dotted with succulents.

Co-owners Nick Adair and Katie Adair Barnhart of Adair Family Restaurants – they include Adair’s Kitchen, the new Eloise Nichols Grill & Liquors, Los Tios and Skeeter’s Mesquite Grill – launched Bebidas in early December on Edloe at Westheimer when they transformed Infinity Title’s old building into a vibrant niche for Greek yogurt parfaits and avocado toast.

We stopped in recently for a leisurely mid-morning snack. Besides the parfaits and avocado toast, Bebidas serves breakfast tacos, açai bowls and challah bread slices slathered with ricotta cheese and marmalade until 11 am. In the afternoons, options shift to chicken salad, brown rice bowls and nori rolls.

For drinks, there are juices, smoothies and espresso beverages as options for energy or wellness boosts. The juices contain familiar vegetable and fruit ingredients such as cucumbers, lemons, kale and grapefruit, while the smoothies incorporate additions such as spirulina and almond milk. (Apparently Bebidas also has house-made cashew milk, but in limited quantities; it was unavailable during our visit.) Looking to add muscle mass to your body? Want to incorporate more fiber or beat back a cold? The list of add-ins include whey protein, flax protein, bee pollen, chia seeds, aloe and more.

The “Beet Down” juice ($8) is a beautiful dark fuchsia and chock-full of pineapple, cucumber, ginger, carrot and beets. Since Bebidas is, in part, a spawn of the current trend for açai bowls, we also decided to try their version ($7.50) and pair it with the “California Dreamin’” taco ($3.25) for a balance between savory and sweet. My favorite part of the açai bowl (photo at top) was its presentation: The porcelain bowl’s charming mustard yellow print highlights the berries’ color and the confetti-like scattering of coconut granola on top. I would have loved a more generous serving of granola to go along with each scoop of the bowl’s smoothie, which is a simple blend of nonfat yogurt, bananas and açai. The frozen concoction leans heavily on the yogurt and banana flavors, as shown by its faint purple hue. Next time we’ll ask for more açai berries in the mix, too.

The “California Dreamin’” taco (photo below) features quinoa, avocado, salsa and egg packed into a corn tortilla. It’s a simple creation with no frills or fuss. We lingered over our meal, taking sips of “Beet Down” to mellow out the spice kick from the salsa and complement the açai bowl’s creaminess with earthy overtones.

At other tables, young moms chatted over matcha lattes and toast while runners and yogis came in for their juice fix. Bebidas is a brilliantly conceived new spot on the fringe of River Oaks that attracts people with its wholesome food, juices and pretty presentation. Well done, Adair family.
