Just a matter of months after its launching, Foodways Texas – a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting and celebrating the food culture of Texas – is hosting its first annual symposium. It will take place this weekend, February 25-26, in Galveston, mostly at the Texas A&M (Galveston) campus.

The weekend begins Friday evening at the Texas Seaport Museum with a welcome reception and dockside dinner. Things get serious on Saturday, with a full day of seminars, panel discussions and demonstrations scheduled.

Tickets are $225 for both days, $210 for Saturday only (includes roundtrip bus trip from Houston) and $175 for students. The fees cover all the sessions and meals, including an oyster “appellation tasting” and dinner at Gaido’s on Saturday evening.
