Yesterday I caught up on the food blogs and enjoyed Syd Kearney’s round-up on the best lemonades in Houston. Coincidentally, I recently had an impressive dinner at Samba Grille (530 Texas, in Bayou Place) where we were introduced to Brazilian Lemonade. I asked for the recipe (and got it) and wanted to share it with SideDish readers. This cooling summer concoction will help you handle the weekend’s predicted non-stop heat wave. The cocktailer in me suggests perhaps a splash of vodka, or maybe rum, to make this an adult beverage.

By the way, it’s called Brazilian Lemonade, but it’s made with limes. We don’t know why.

Ingredients

6 oz. condensed milk
the juice of 3 limes
5 Tbsp. sugar
3.5 cups water
2 cups ice

METHOD: Blend all ingredients for 5 seconds and strain. Serve over ice. This makes about 4 servings.
